Impressed

Usually I’m the last person to be impressed by Governments or bureaucracies but the emergency in Queensland and the leadership shown by Anna Bligh and her emergencies services deserves nothing but the utmost praise.

Never do I remember an emergency in any country state or territory being managed so efficiently by any organization or government.

who trained the monkey

G’day

I guess we had to find out sooner or later that the west just like china is no haven of free speech

But unlike china we still pretend while criticizing china for the great wall, we close down wikileaks.

I used to believe in The Australian labor party and thought Julia Gillard was ok until she a trained lawyer stated wikileaks guilt but not guilty of what, where are the separation of powers between the legislature and the judiciary, or has some one amended the constitution giving a prime minister the right to decree guilt r declare a crime where no statute has been broken. Is this just to appease our American masters as masters they must be if even the power brokers of the ALP report to them even on the internal machinations of their own party. I’m afraid being of the left side of politics I’m now a political orphan homeless and no one whom I may vote for.

clean green

Allan Brumby 29/05/07
Flowerpot
Tasmania.
To Whom It May Concern:
How many dwellings are there in Tasmania?
How big of percentage of Tasmania’s energy do they consume?
How much would it cost to build a power station to generate a similar amount of energy?

How many of these could be retro fitted for solar panels for micro generation?
What would be the greenhouse savings?
Would it not be in the interests of the Tasmanian Government to legislate and pay for such a scheme?

The costs on one hundred thousand homes was arrived at by ringing current suppliers and was the upper end of the cost of a fifteen kilowatt system for one dwelling. I should imagine the cost
For fifty or one hundred thousand dwelling having a saving of scale that would be substantial.
Can we afford to not look at this possibility?
Would there be an opportunity for the state to trade carbon credits?

Let us really start thinking clean green and bugga the rhetoric.

A suggested Bill of Rights

Why of all the western nations do we the citizens of Australia
have no Bill of Rights?
What are our politicians afraid of?
I must apologise to America whom I borrowed most of these ideas.
This needs a lot of work and suggestions from those much wiser than me but not of politicians or lawyers whose sole aim seems to be to make things anything but simple.
So let us all think about it and suggest and see what humane ideas we can aspire to

the wattles bloomed

Today the wattles bloom, wattles always bloom in spring. A little over a year ago our house burnt down. At the weekend a friend lent me a bus to live in while I rebuild.

the devils plight

The tasmanian Devil is being devastated by a tumour,
That may have ccause in chemicals used in forestry, if this is the case shouldn't suspect chemicals be banned untill proven harmless, shouldn't companies and departments who use such chemicals if proven to be harmfull be liable for some form of criminal and monetary retribution>

Our all Powerfull All seeing

Today The American Supreme Court ruled that trial by military commission for Gotamo Bay inmates was illegal under American and international law.
Today our Prime Minister ruled that David Hicks was guilty and should stand trial but not in Australia where he is guilty of nothing>
I'm wondering about the seperation of powers in Australia between the legislature and the judiciary, did I miss something or does a Prime Minister have the prejudicial rights to declare and Australian citizen guilty, where there was no Australian law, and guilt was never acertained by a fair trial.

why are we innocent

Why does the australian goverment accept America holding one of it's citizen who committed no crime .
Why not our leaders war criminals , who can try them , or is it if you carry the biggest gun or walk with him who does only then are you innocent.
War criminals can only come from non allied countries.
